It’s been I whirlwind of adventure since I last wrote on here! I decided to take a much anticipated trip to Morocco with a friend of mine. Even before the trip began there was a bit of craziness, so again, sorry for so much delay in posts! This post is just gonna be about my BUS travel, so if you have no interest, skip to the next post…
As I last mentioned I was in Lucena about a week ago and had a bit of traveling before I could head down to Africa. I needed to repack my suitcase for another 2 weeks so I had to head back up to Madrid. Simple enough…at least that’s what I thought. What got in the way? A strike. Europe is a big fan of them, I’m not. I wanted to get up to Madrid the day before we left but of course that was the day of the strike, so talking w/ all my friend in Lucena it made sense that maybe taking my most dreaded bus at midnight and arrive in Madrid at 5am would work out.
Oh what? The midnight bus didn’t show? Well…that meant the next morning I was up at 5:30 in order to walk to the bus station and catch the 6am bus to Cordoba- arrival time 7:30. Fantastic, just enough time to catch the 8am bus to Madrid.
OH, the bus to Madrid at 8 and 10am are both full? Hmmmm…this could be a bit of a problem. (Probably full from the lack of busses the day before) So let me just hop over to the train station and see what’s available…
YES!!! A seat is available (and at a BIT of a discount)! Thank you bus ticket selling man! Now I just have to wait until noon (mind you its 7:30am) to catch my train.
Well, end of that chapter. Everything actually worked out quite well. I got to do some basic shopping (comfy shoes, sunscreen, etc.)
Next chapter…
Once I got to Madrid (at 2pm) I had to BOOK IT over to E’s place. Got there about 45min later and got crackin (packing, eating, shower) because we had to be out the apartment by 5pm to catch a 6pm bus. OK. Done and done.
6 hours later (midnight) we arrive to Sevilla (to meet the group going to Morocco). Now we have 4 hours to kill until we meet up with the group…what to do? Stop at a burger king!
never tried olive oil and vinegar on a BK crispy chicken salad? Well let me tell you... |
Once we met up with the group we were good to go. What we didn’t happen to know was how much bus travel was involved for all the places we were headed in Morocco. And to top that off with approximately 20hrs of bus (+1 train) travels I took before even arriving to Morocco. Let’s just say I was super ready to be on solid ground.
We did travel quite a lot during the trip but it was all WELL worth it to be in the Sahara desert. Now let’s end this post so I can start the next one actually about my trip to Morocco!
